Views are Appearing

The preserve doesn't have any vast and open vistas, but you can see more than you might expect through the trees, now that most of the leaves are gone. A pair of binoculars will also help.

If you look to the southwest from the summit (along Winding Way), you'll see Pleasant Mountain, which is about 19 miles away. You'll also see the rocky overlook near the actual summit of Patch Mt.

If you look to the southeast when you're a little below the summit, there's a decent view of Pennesseewassee Lake. We recently thinned out a few trees to improve this view.

At other points along the trails you can see Mud Pond (which of course you'll get a very good look at along the Cakewalk Trail), the Harvard Mine on Noyes Mt., and even a hint of a view between Patch Mt. and Noyes Mt. toward the North.

Big thanks to Tony Chapman for his enthusiastic and boundless help in the clearing efforts!
