The entrance to the access path has been plowed, so there's room for about two cars to park. The access path and the Cakewalk are in good shape. Hiking boots are fine - you don't need snowshoes. However, ice cleats are strongly recommended. The Cakewalk, in particular, is very hard and slippery.
The sturdy, spiky sort of cleats are your best bet. Cleats with a mesh-like or spring-like gripping area, or ones that only have small metal pips for traction, may be good enough for sidewalks, but they probably aren't up to hiking. You want something with teeth!

We haven't been on any of the other trails. I'm guessing they'll be okay with hiking boots and cleats, although there may be some deep, snowy areas. There may also be some large branches - and possibly trees - down. There were a lot of small branches in the access path and Cakewalk, and a few larger branches that required a bit of effort to move. One particularly large pine branch that came down near the kiosk will be staying there for now, since it's not in the way.
If you venture out on the other trails, we'd love to hear how they are! If you'd like, drop us a comment here, or send us private note.
