Not For Rockhounding

It appears there has been some rockhounding activity along the preserve's trails.

Some of the rocks that were disturbed were placed there to serve as stepping stones in muddy weather.

Other rocks were dislodged along steep trail sections, and this will cause increased erosion.

If rocks are dislodged when hiking, feel free to remove them from the trail - it happens. But please do not purposefully dig out rocks in the preserve.

There are many excellent local mines that support rockhounding, and we encourage you to visit them.

Far Winde-A-Way Nature Preserve is not a place for rockhounding or mineral collecting.
