There are some big trees scattered here and there throughout the preserve. One of them just earned a special distinction: it's a co-champion for the largest Eastern Hemlock in Oxford County.

The tree is:
10 feet in circumference 90 feet tall
with a crown spread of 60 feet.
This big old tree is easy to find. It's about halfway along the Cakewalk Trail, and just a few feet uphill from the trail.

Here's a waypoint of the tree's location that will open in Google Earth:
If you'd like to learn more about how these big trees are chosen, and see the current list of winners, check out the Oxford Register of Big Trees:(https://oxfordcountyswcd.org/oxford-register-of-big-trees/).

There are a few species that don't have any winners yet. Perhaps you can be the one to nominate the next champion.

That is a magnificent tree. Congratulations.
